5.

How is it made and purified?

Millions of years ago, organic matter and plants were trapped under many layers of rock in mountainous regions of India and some regions of Tibet. The pressure from the weight of the mountains causing extreme temperature changes of temperature causes the plants and dead organic matter to be transformed into a rich mineral mass that emerges out of the rocks. This flowing product is called Shilajit. This entire process takes millions of years to form and produce the rich resinous substance. It is often considered the diamond of the herbal universe.

In the warm summer months, Shilajit can be located on the surface of the steep rocky cliffs. For millennia, the mountain peoples of the Himalayas have carefully hand accumulated this very exceptional gift of nature. It is then purified and cleansed according to traditional Tibetan methods using only fresh spring water to produce the 100% pure Authentic Shilajit.

There are several purification methods, but the traditional Tibetan technique presents the purest resin. The rocks that have Shilajit are broken up and then dipped for hours in pure mountain spring water. Shilajit, which is easily water-soluble, dissolves into the spring water and then the sediment is separated via filtration. The liquid is then evacuated out in the sun to evaporate the water entirely. This process is repeated 7 -10 times until the Shilajit is 100% pure. In the last process, the Shilajit is heated to extract out any remaining water and destroy any possible spores and microbes that may be present. Fulvic acids and Minerals are not harmed by heat. As pure Shilajit is millions of years ancient there are no valuable nutrients or enzymes to be removed.

6.

Where is Shilajit sourced from?

Shilajit is sourced from fulvic acid-rich mineral resin from a  high altitude, remote, region of the Himalayan mountains along the Tibetan border and the Indian Himalayas. This region is well-known by Ancient Ayurvedic experts to yield the most powerful Rasayana, Gold Grade Shilajit.

7.

What are the different grades of Shilajit available?

Shilajit is available in different grades, it depends upon the location as well as the altitude. It extracted from, the purification techniques.

This knowledge is spread out to limited people that Shilajit comes in four different qualities:

Gold Grade: The highest grade (Gold Grade) is believed to have all of the ultimate properties Shilajit is popular for.

When any amongst the four grades of Shilajit is extracted and purified the result will be a black tar-like resin substance. In order to find out the grade, one must first see the colour shade and kind of rock the raw Shilajit is found in before it is purified in the spring water. The most potent Shilajit comes from the highest altitudes of the Himalayas, approximately 16,000 – 18,000 feet above sea level.

The highest grade of Shilajit is found in the red/gold coloured rock.

8.

How do Shilajit functions?

A great many health issues can be traced to nutrient or mineral deficiencies. Intensive chemical farming (through herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, etc) and mechanical irrigation have eliminated natural minerals and nutrient-filled microbes from our agricultural land and the plants that cultivated on it.

Shilajit contains many of the essential nutrient, minerals and traces elements needed for energy reactions in our body cells and high percentages of fulvic acid to aid the transport of these mineral molecules deep into the body. The minerals and nutrients in Shilajit are in ionic form, which means that the body can more easily as well as effectively absorb and move them to areas where they are needed.

In Ayurveda, Shilajit of Gold Grade is believed to be an Ayurvedic Rasayana or rejuvenation resin substance. Shilajit is said to have the exceptional ability to bring the essential qualities of any tissue system (Dhatu). For example, the essential qualities of muscle (mamsa) are to give shape, the essential qualities of blood (rakta) is to bring life, and the essential qualities of the marrow/nervous system (maja) is to bestow knowledge.

Shilajit’s uses in Ayurveda are ultimately nutritious. It is also generally used for a myriad of supportive measures including mental clarity, increased energy and muscle recovery. It is popular in India for its support of a healthy reproductive system in both men as well as women.

9.

How do I consume Shilajit?

In order to consume Shilajit, simply mix Shilajit in hot, non-chlorinated water, tea or warm milk and drink the beverage. Alternatively, one simply swallow a portion with water if the taste is too unpleasant also one can dissolve it under the tongue.

We test each and every batch of shilajit at an independent, cGMP certified, FDA registered, third party laboratory here in the USA. Testing is done to California Prop 65 regulations that are the most rigid for heavy metals. California Prop 65 limits are so tough that drinking water, vegetables and fruit were made exempt from testing because they cannot meet these standards.

Links to our most recent tests can be viewed in the “Safety and Purity” section.

15.

What is the fulvic acid percentage generally in Shilajit?

Fulvic acid has been identified as one of the active minerals and nutrients in shilajit and many companies selling this “shilajit” advertise standardized and specific percentages of fulvic acid in their product.

It’s a general question one has before adding Shilajit to their diet. After verifying with several prominent laboratories we can conclude that no laboratory can correctly measure the number of fulvic acid percentages with any consistency and accuracy.

In both scientific studies and among scientists, there is no agreement on the molecular weight of the fulvic acid molecule and the real size. There is no one scale universal standard for the measurement of fulvic acid percentages.

In addition, there are so many vitamins, minerals organic matter, amino acids, and unidentified acid chains also present in the fulvic area that would need to be removed. Hence it’s just the actual fulvic molecules for testing.

By altering the method of testing, wildly ranged fulvic percentages can be measured from one sample. If five different tests are done from the same sample batch there will be five different results that will have definitely different percentages as the method vary easily.

One test may show 52% and another 35% and still another 22%.

It is also important to note that authentic shilajit is a naturally, organically occurring substance and hence will never have a set percentage of fulvic acid.

16.

What should I do if my Shilajit is very hard to consume?

Authentic Shilajit has the quality of becoming very tough when cool, gooey and soft when warm.

This unique quality of changing consistency in concert with ambient temperature is only found with 100%  pure and genuine Shilajit and is an important indication of authenticity. If your Shilajit is hard, please put your container in your pocket and your own body heat should be enough to soften it after 5-10 minutes.

17. So how do certain companies claim a set percentage that never changes from one batch to another batch?

Some wholesalers actually add fulvic acid (often the same fulvic acid used in fertilizers) to claim a standard percentage of fulvic acid. Make sure of percentage claims by marketers.

Choose a brand that refuses to add external fulvic acid to shilajit.

Rejecting brands that make claims about fulvic acid percentage is a wise choice.
